SB 1315 passed California State Senate Public Safety Committee

Bill SB797 amended

We reported about Senator De Leon's new Bill 1315 earlier[1], which basically is a copy of last year's SB 798. Only this time it is limited to Los Angeles instead of effecting whole California. Just like SB 798 it is ought to allow for individual laws regarding airsoft guns and imitation firearms in Los Angeles, in order to make any regulations and bans possible in the future.

According to Dr. Airsoft[2] SB 1315 now passed the California State Senate Public Safety Committee with a vote of five to two in favour. The next vote will be held by the entire Senate.

If you live in California you can contact your state senator and express your concerns regarding this bill. Therefore Dr. Airsoft provided a link to find your senator's contact details and even a pre-formulated text to save you time and trouble: http://vaughanmd.com/drairsoft/SB1315.html.

Yeah..... uhhhh.... comments like that don't endear people to us or make them more likely to see airsofters as group of responsible people.

the reason to shutdown this past time and hobby/ sport in California genuinely surprises, many people from all over practice this tradition (as i do) disappointment in our representatives and governor is what i feel at this moment...taking a family activity a child's sport and many peoples hobby's away from them, this brings no harm among the community or state as a whole , if anything it give the kids something to do staying off the streets and getting involved with there community (my church participates in these activity as well) and largely contributes to the economy ...why i ask was SB1315 even thought of ?

shame

Professionals I have known who play airsoft.

Teachers, students, doctors, psychologists, newscastors, food industry workers, soldiers, cops, security professionals, pastors, electronics industry workers, nurses, EMTs.... And those are just he ones I can think of.

Never seen a politician out there. Not once.

What is my point? I think the protectionists are out of touch with their constituents.

Hmmm, this is quite unfortunate. It seems as though our government has their own agenda now - more and more often these days, in fact. The duty of the government is to protect the people. When the majority of the PEOPLE think airsoft is ok (which is pretty obvious in this case, atleast to me), then is it not WRONG of the GOVERNMENT to try and take airsoft away? The fact of the matter is that politicians have a mindset against airsoft; and despite what the people think, politicians refuse to think any differently. The JOB of a POLITICIAN is to REPRESENT the opinion of the PEOPLE!!! NOT THEIR OWN OPINION! This is the one thing that sooo many politicians just can't seem to remember...To all of you politicians out there, you have a JOB to do, and it is about time you start doing it right! Don't take airsoft away because a vocal minority says its bad! Don't run our lives the way you think they should be run, that is WRONG and against the founding ideals of this great nation! Your job is to SERVE the people, and if you don't like that job, then QUIT! SAVE AIRSOFT! Call De Leon and tell him to stop this nonsense and get back on the right track, and hell, if you are somewhere else in the country having an issue, ACT OUT! you may not think you are making a difference, but you never know, somebody of importance may read this by chance - your simple input into a matter could be the deciding factor in some important situation!

Just another way for the government to take gun control out of control... This is what happens when you give children airsoft/imitation guns and not teach them how to use them properly.. Don't take from the responsible take from the irresponsible.. Theres a reason you have to be 18 years old or accompanied by an adult... I love airsoft don't ruin it..

Really why would this be passed? "Right to bear arms" , ( But not fake ones!) good job government you guys never fail to amaze me in how unreasonable you people are, you're taking away thousands of peoples hobby and sport, a lot of time and money was invested in this hobby for anyone that is involved in it. Great job Gov. you all never fail to do whatever the people do not want :-x

I left CA. FIRST THING I BOUGHT WAS A 50 caliber rifle. Awesomeness. Freedom. Now I'm broke. But it was worth it. Next is a ar15 with a 1 million round drum. If I can get a magazine built to a ammo making machine. That will be awesome. Dam LIBS. You guys are nutts.

Have you punked a lib today?
